I’ll be in Kansas all month as part of a Visiting Writers Fellowship through Wichita State University. In honor of the residency, there will be a reading and Q & A on campus at the Ulrich Museum on the 2nd floor gallery. Many thanks to the Wichita State University Creative Writing program for hosting me, with extra special gratitude to Sam Taylor and Margaret Dawe for all their hard work putting this together. I’ll be readingĀ in support of my favorite publisher ATELIER26 BOOKS at Ford Food & Drink with other A26 authors Woody Skinner, author of the story collection A Thousand Distant Radios, and poet Sidney Wade, author of many collections of poetry including her most recent Bird Book. We’re all awesome and a blazing good time. Plus, Ford Food & Drink has fantastic nachos (and booze!). It’d make sense if you were there too. xo

Yup, it’s back! Literary Bingo with Why There Are Words PDX was WAY too much fun to not do again. Writers read their work into a mic at a rowdy bar. If writer reads a word or theme on your bingo card, mark it off. Each time someone gets bingo, the crowd is pelted with candy and the first lucky winner of each round wins a free book. Seriously, the first time we did this, it was the most fun…
